Barely five days after Mohammed Ajmal Kasab was hanged at Yerawada jail, Pune for his role in 26/11, convicted of the massacre of hundreds of unsuspecting Mumbaikars, a threat email, claiming to avenge the hanging of the lone 26/11 convict has been sent from a cybercafé in Bengaluru.

Kasab was a trained operative of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Tayyiba who vowed to take revenge for his execution. Pakistan continues to deny the daring three day attack on India's premier city was state-sponsored.

A team of Kashmir police officers landed in the city on Monday, seeking the help of city police to track the source of the threat mail, received soon after Kasab was hanged on November 21. The J&K police have tracked the mail to a cybercafé in the city.

Senior officials of Bengaluru police, refused to confirm or deny the information. However, Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashoka did say on Monday that the state is on high alert as terror groups sympathising with Kasab could carry out attacks. “Certain terror groups may be planning attacks in Karnataka.

We are prepared,” he said. Some 3,000 security personnel have been deployed at high-security industrial and nuclear installations in the state.
