3 rob home-alone woman
After a brief lull, house robbery has made a comeback. On Saturday night, a home-alone woman was robbed of jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh by three unidentified men, who had come to her house posing as students looking for a house for rent.
The incident took place around 9 pm in RMV Layout in Mathikere in Yeshwantpur police limits. The victim, Ambujamma, was alone in the house, when the three people knocked on her doors.
The police said the three were speaking in Hindi. “It was a well-planned robbery as the three were aware that there was a house for rent. Most probably, they were watching the house for sometime and struck at the most opportune time,” an investigating officer said.
Ambujamma lives along with her two children and husband. A few weeks ago, one of their houses had been vacated for which they were looking for tenants. The robbers knew this and when they sought the house, she believed them.
Once inside the house, they flashed knives and robbed the house after asking her to show where the valuables are kept. Then they tied her using her own saree and fled.
The Yeshwantpur police said the investigation is heading in the right direction and the culprits would be caught soon.
