After CET, city girls top Comed-K too
Archana Sasi and Deepa M., who had secured first rank in medical and engineering streams respectively in the CET conducted by KEA, have also secured top ranking in the Comed-K medical and engineering entrance exams, respectively. Releasing the UGET results here on Thursday, Comed-K executive director A.S. Shrikanth said that all the top 10 rank-holders in the medical and dental streams are from Karnataka and nine of the 10 engineering rank holders are also from the state. Similarly, 38 of the medical and 42 of the engineering top 50 rank holders are from Karnataka, while there are 66 medical and 83 engineering rank-holders from the state in the top 100 ranks.
Mr Shrikanth said Comed-K had conducted a written examination at the national level on May 6 at 114 centers so as to make selection for 40% of the medical, 45% of the dental and 30% of the total engineering seats in private professional institutions in Karnataka. As many as 77,750 candidates appeared for the examination, an increase of around 10,000 as compared to last year. A total of 32,553 candidates appeared for medical and dental seats and 9,135 have qualified for participation in the seat-selection process. Compared to the previous year, 2,530 more candidates have become eligible in the medical and dental streams. Similarly, 44,185 candidates appeared for engineering seats and all of them have been assigned ranks. The number of candidates qualifying for participation in the engineering counselling has gone up by nearly 3,000, he said.
