How to apply online for voter’s ID?
People above 18 years can skip long queues to apply for Electoral Photo-Identity Card (EPIC) and apply online. Karnataka is the first state in the country to go online for voter IDs.
Applications for correction of name, age, addition and deletion of names from the list can be made online. Eligible voters can get EPICs within a month. The system was digitised and the process made faster last year. An applicant gets mobile updates on the status of his/her application.
Submission of hard copies of address and identity proof mandatory
Though applications can be filed online, hard copies of address proof and identity proof have to be submitted at a nearby voter facilitation centre.
Booth-level officials will verify the documents and conduct physical verification. With this, the entire process of electoral identification can be done within a month. EPIC will be dispatched to the applicant by post. It can also be collected from the booth-level office.
