Bandipur is eco-sensitive zone now

The Bandipur National Park has become the first tiger reserve in the country to be declared an eco-sensitive zone (ESZ).

A notification in the regard was issued by Union Ministry for Environment and Forests (MoEF), which said a geographical area of 479.18 sqkm outside the Bandipur protected area, which includes 123 villages falling under Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar, Nanjangud and H.D. Kote taluks, are declared as ESZ, besides the notified forest areas in the region.
