BBMP in action mode
A day after heavy rains and a hail-storm lashed Bengaluru, civic agencies BBMP and BESCOM are hard at work repairing the damage and doing what they can to avoid a repeat of the chaos that the city was thrown into on Tuesday. Flooding and water-logging was reported in several houses near Muneshwara Temple, Rajagopalanagar. There were also reports of water-logging in D.J. Halli and Ejipura, but these were minor incidences. Several roads were waterlogged, including Vittal Mallya Road, Brigade Road, M.G. Road, Laggere, Good Shed Road and roads around Vidhana Soudha and Cubbon Park.
Uprooted trees were reported in several areas in the city and while some vehicles were damaged, nobody was injured. Trees fell in Lavanya Theatre in Ulsoor, near Yediyur Lake, St. John's Road, Krumbiegel Road, Nagasandra Road, Padmanabhanagar, Bull Temple Road, Cauvery Bhavan, M.S. Building, Gandhinagar, near Oxford School in J.P. Nagar, Raghavendra Block in Srinagar, High Court complex, Richmond Circle, Gavipuram Guttahalli, Kengeri Satellite Town, Shankarapuram and Rajajinagar. BBMP workers are trimming trees where required in several places in South Bengaluru and all BBMP zonal engineers have been asked to keep a watch on water-logging, said a BBMP official.
