BJP’s action will be suicidal: Dhananjay
Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) president V. Dhananjay Kumar on Saturday warned that it would be suicidal for the state unit of BJP if its president K.S. Eshwarappa initiated disciplinary action against supporters of former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
Speaking to the media here, he said Mr Eshwarappa had warned that the party would take disciplinary action against ministers and legislators if they participate in the launch of KJP by Mr Yeddyurappa at Haveri on December 9. Such action would prove suicidal for the party, he added.
Mr Kumar wondered how the state unit could talk of stringent action while it did not take any action against legislators and Members of Parliament who identified themselves with BSR Congress led by former minister B. Sreeramalu. “After December 9, people will know the true strength of BJP in Karnataka. The state unit president will be left with very few MLAs after our mega rally at Haveri”, he added.
Criticising former Lokayukta Justice N. Santhosh Hegde for his remarks against Mr Yeddyurappa, Mr Kumar said the former judge should stop making baseless allegations against the former chief minister. In case he does not heed, the party would be forced to launch a state-wide protest, he warned.
Mr Kumar charged that the former Lokayukta was making allegations against Mr Yeddyurappa merely to please BJP national general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar.
