Botswana national held for drug peddling

A Botswana national who chose upscale areas to lure customers for drugs was arrested by sleuths of the Women and Narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) from Muneshwarnagar in Ramurthynagar. The accused has been identified as Raymond David Masahsah (26), son of David Masahsah, a resident of Park Avenue in Gaborone in Botswana. Police recovered 150 gm of cocaine worth Rs 10 lakh, two mobile phones, his passport, Indian currency of Rs 1,240, Nigerian currency of Naira 1,000, and 10 Nepali rupees from him.

They said the accused came to India in 2011 and started a garment and wig business in New Delhi. When he suffered losses, he took to drug peddling in Bengaluru. He rented a house in Muneshwarnagar and got in touch with other African nationals and a friend, identified as Sandy, to procure cocaine. David confessed that he would choose upscale spots like UB City, a place near KFC, Styx pub and other pubs on M.G. Road to peddle drugs.

DCP (Crime) Mr Krishnam Raju said, “Based on a tip-off, we raided his house. The accused confessed to selling drugs in some plush areas in the city, but we are yet to arrest his associates. We are investigating who he used to supply the drugs to, but so far, we know that he was smuggling the drugs into the country from Nigeria.”
