BSR Congress will fight all 224 seats in next polls: Sreeramulu
Hinting that all was not well among the Reddy brothers’ following the arrest of former tourism minister G Janardhan Reddy, leader of BSR Congress party and former health minister B Sreeramulu said his party would field a candidate against former revenue minister G Karunakar Reddy, too, on Friday.
Speaking to media persons here, he said his party would contest all the 224 seats in next year’s polls on its own. It would not seek a seat-sharing arrangement with any party in Karnataka, he added.
When asked why Mr Karunakar Reddy was not supporting BSR Congress, while other legislators including Mr Somashekhar Reddy and Mr Suresh Babu had even announced that they would contest the Assembly polls on the new party’s tickets, Mr Sreeramulu said he would desist from commenting on Mr Karunakar Reddy.
“From the beginning, I was close to Mr Janardhan Reddy. Mr Karunakar Reddy was a reserved person. He might have thought that the BJP would make him a minister again. I heard that he felt bad on not making it to the list of ministers,” he added,
Sources said soon after the raids and arrest of Mr Janardhan Reddy, his elder brother Mr Karunakar Reddy decided to remain in the ruling BJP even as his younger sibling Mr G Somashekar Reddy and Mr Sreeramulu moved various courts for the release of the former tourism minister.
