BSY bail plea hearing put off to May 25
The anticipatory bail applications filed by former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa and his kin has been adjourned till May 25. Additional Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran filed a memo raising objections to the in-charge court hearing the anticipatory bail applications filed by the accused in the case. With this, the hearing in the bail applications filed by the former CM and his family members has been deferred for a week now.
As the hearing began, the additional solicitor general stated that only the designated CBI special court should hear the case. The former CM, his two sons B.Y. Raghavendra and B.Y. Vijayendra and son-in-law R.N. Sohan Kumar had filed anticipatory bail applications. While adjourning the hearing, in-charge judge Shivalinge Gowda directed the applicants to approach the regular court. The courts are on summer vacation and reopen next week.
Meanwhile, the CBI officials are reportedly verifying the documents recovered during Wednesday’s raids. After the Supreme Court ordered an investigation, the CBI had registered an FIR against Mr Yeddyurappa and others on Tuesday and launched simultaneous raids and searches in Bengaluru, Shimoga and Bellary. The CBI on Wednesday raided the residences of Mr Yeddyurappa on Race Course Road, Dollar’s Colony and his Shimoga house. The agency also raided mining firms which allegedly doled out large donations to trusts and firms run by Mr Yeddyurappa’s kin in return for alleged undue favours shown to them during his stint as Chief Minister of the state.
The CBI had registered an FIR under Sections 120 (b), 409, 420 of IPC, Sections 7, 13 (2), 13(1) (c) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 9 of Karnataka Land (Restriction on Transfer) Act.
