Will Karnataka have a new chief minister by June 21?
On a day when the forward looking southern state marked the diamond jubilee of its state assembly, and five veteran former MLAs of the first assembly were felicitated amid stirring speeches by former chief justice of Supreme Court, Dr M.N. Venkatachalaiah, former speaker and BJP MP, D.B. Chandre Gowda and Governor H.R. Bharadwaj, former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa set his plan for leadership change in motion.
With one eye on the Congress, moving towards finding its own Lingayat leader, Mr Yeddyurappa, who has taken the lead to remove Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, held a closed-door meeting with his supporters. They set a three-day deadline for Mr Gowda to convene a meeting of the legislature party where they aim to replace him with rural development and panchayat raj minister Jagadish Shettar.
