Cabinet expansion: All eyes on CM
Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda has kept his party colleagues guessing over the much-awaited cabinet expansion. Mr Gowda, who will be in Delhi on Monday, may also meet the BJP central leaders to discuss the issue. On Monday, Mr Gowda will be attending the Chief Minister’s conference on Internal Security to discuss the Centre’s proposal on setting up of the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC).
Sources in the CM’s secretariat said Mr Gowda had kept the return journey options open. This had led to speculation that Mr Gowda could meet the Central leaders to finalise the cabinet expansion to induct 11 ministers.
Sources said Mr Gowda was in two minds over the issue. “All of Monday, he will be attending the Internal Security meeting. So far, we don’t have information on Mr Gowda seeking any appointment with the party leaders. After his return, the Chief Minister is calling all-party meeting to discuss the drought situation.
After that, the Chief Minister will be heading back to Delhi again, leading an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister. Since a lot of drought-related meetings are scheduled here, he may opt to meet the leaders over expansion during the weekend visit to Delhi,’’ sources added.
