CBI court to hear BS Yeddyurappa bail plea on June 1
A CBI court has adjourned hearing on the anticipatory bail petitions filed by former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and his relatives to June 1.
CBI Judge D.R. Venkat Sudarshan posted the bail application for arguments after the CBI chose not to contest further on their application.
Mr Yeddyurappa, his sons B.Y. Raghavendra, and B Y Vijayendra and son-in-law R.N. Sohan Kumar have sought anticipatory bail.
The CBI, while filing objections to their bail applications, said the arrest of the accused was required as they needed to be interrogated in custody.
On Tuesday, Mr Yeddyurappa’s counsel Siddarth Navadagi filed objections to the CBI application, seeking personal appearance of the accused.
The CBI Special Public Prosecutor submitted that he will not press for personal appearance of the petitioners and sought time till June 1 for final arguments.
The CBI, probing the role of the petitioners in illegal mining cases, had strongly opposed the anticipatory bail petitions.
The CBI registered an FIR against the former chief minister and his relatives, complying with a Supreme Court directive.
The Lokayukta court, meanwhile, posted for June 5 the fresh private complaint against Mr Yeddyurappa, Housing minister V. Somanna and his family members, alleging irregularities in denotification of lands.
