CBSE results out, many students hit perfect 10
CBSE announced Class X results of Chennai region, which includes Bengaluru too, without prior information to schools and students. Most students were clueless till they started getting messages from their friends about the announcement of results.
Mr Mansoor Ali Khan, general secretary, Management of Independent CBSE Schools' Association, said till Monday morning, CBSE authorities had not given any information on announcing the results. “I called them in the morning. They said they will announce the results after two or three days. It is indeed a surprise,” he said. A number of students have scored Cumulative Grade Point Average of 10 (A1), the highest possible grade. Each grade, given on the basis of both formative and summative assessments, will correspond to a range of marks.
CBSE Regional Officer D.T. Sudharsan Rao said students will be given a Certificate of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation, covering their performance in Classes IX and X. The overall performance is reflected in grades – A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 and D. “Candidates falling within the range of A1 to D are given the result as qualified for admission to higher classes. Candidates obtaining Grades E1 and E2 are put under the Category EIOP (Eligible for Improvement of Performance).” Candidates who wish to apply for verification of marks can do it within 21 days of the declaration of results. Those who wish to apply for Improvement of Performance can apply before June 22 ithout late fee. The tentative date of the examination will be July 16,” he said.
