Children with club foot will walk again
Children with club foot and from underprivileged sections of society have now hopes of finding a permanent cure. BMM ISPAT Ltd, in association with Sanjeevini Hospital, has come up with “Anurag”, an ongoing rehabilitation programme to provide free treatment to children disabled by club foot.
Ragavendra E., a resident of Bellary, had almost given up hope on getting his son normal. His son Tanush Kumar, born with a left club foot, has undergone treatment at Sanjeevini Hospital since he was three months old and after almost one-and-a-half years of treatment he is almost cured now.
Raghavendra said, “Tanush is now one-and-a-half-years old. The doctors have straightened his foot and have given him a special shoe. They regularly apply bandage to his left foot to cure him of club foot completely. The doctors have said it will require another 2-3 years to achieve 100% success. He now moves around and we are very happy.”
The treatment is taken care of by a team of experienced doctors, including an orthopedic surgeon, rehabilitation surgeon and assisted by other hospital staff from Sanjeevini Hospital in Bellary. The team has treated more than 450 such cases in the last decade.
