Credit card con gets Vasundhara

This Namma Bengaluru girl is known for her famous song, ‘Shakalaka Baby’, which still remains a huge hit among youngsters. She began her acting career with one of the most versatile actors in the country, Kamal Hassan, in Hey Ram!

The City’s very own Vasundhara Das, singer, actor and co-founder of music band Arya, was a little upset recently after her credit card was stolen and swiped within half-an-hour. She also lost her wallet, which contained her driving licence, RC book of a Maharastra-registered vehicle, Bangalore Club membership card, two frequent flier cards of two airlines, Metro Card, emergency insurance cards, debit and credit cards from different banks.

Ms Das, a resident of Malleswaram, was the master of ceremonies at a conference in Bishop Cottons Boys High School on Residency Road on September 1, 2012. Around 2 pm, she realised that her wallet was missing from her handbag. By 2.30 pm, she received an SMS alert saying her credit card had been swiped at a shop called American Corner on Brigade Road (Rex Theatre Complex).

She was one of the six panelists invited by the Head Table 2012 – the annual leadership forum – at Bishop Cottons Boys School. She was interacting with nearly 400 student council leaders of nearly 200 schools from across the city. The actress informed the police after blocking all her cards.

A team of Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have come to the American Corner and are obtaining information about customers who had made purchases on September 1. The police said the actor informed them late and the accused has had enough time to escape. It is not known where or when she lost her wallet. She has told the police that she realized her wallet is missing only in the afternoon.

“We might also talk to the school authorities to gather some possible information. We cannot suspect anyone in particular as the gathering was big at the school that day,” a CCB sleuth, who wished not to be identified, told Deccan Chronicle.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
