CRISP seeks separate ministry for children
The Child Rights Initiative for Shared Parenting (CRISP) has urged for a separate Union Ministry for Children and to delink it from the present Women and Child Development Ministry, alleging their objectives are different.
CRISP president Kumar Jahgirdar said the organisation will put forth a similar demand before the state government on November 14, the Children’s Day.
“As they do not have voting powers, the governments have neglected their rights. Negligence of parents leads to minor involving in criminal activities,” said Mr Jahgirdar, adding that at least 20,000 such cases are pending in Bengaluru alone.
