Drunk youth falls off parapet in sleep, dies
The habit of sleeping on the parapet wall to beat the summer heat proved fatal for a 32-year-old man who fell down to his death in Kamakhya Extension on Monday night.
The deceased, Dora Prasad from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, had rented a room on the second floor of Mr Prabahakar’s house a month ago.
An MBA graduate, Prasad was in the city in search of a job.
Prasad was an alcoholic and created nuisance every night. His neighbours had warned him against sleeping on the parapet, but he had paid no attention.
Building supervisor Mrs Anandi had complained to the owner, who had asked Prasad to vacate the room.
On Monday around 11.45, Mrs Anandi warned Prasad and asked him to sleep inside the room, instead of the parapet.
Around 1.30 am, the residents heard a loud thud and found Prasad lying in a pool of blood on the ground.
The Channamana Kere Achukattu police, who were informed immediately, registered a case of unnatural death.
