Enough is enough, warns Jarkiholi
Even as former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa steps up efforts to claim the CM’s gaddi, municipal administration minister Balachandra Jarkiholi has threatened to resign along with 20 other BJP legislators if BSY continues to pester the BJP government headed by D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
Speaking to reporters in Belgaum, Mr Jarkiholi said Mr Yeddyurappa, in his attempts to become CM again, was spoiling the image of the BJP. “Sadananda Gowda is providing good governance and is set to present the budget. The BSY faction is not able to digest this which is the reason why they are creating trouble for the government. If this does not stop, the group of 20 MLAs will meet the governor and resign,’’ he warned.
Stating that he had a lot of respect for Mr Yeddyurappa, Mr Jarkiholi said his constant haggling for power had becoming intolerable. “It is not just me, most of the MLAs are also complaining though none of them dare to speak about this in public. Being a senior leader, Mr Yeddyurappa should work to build the party image. Why should Mr Sadananda Gowda resign in the first place,’’ he wondered.
Taking a dig at panchayat raj and rural development minister Jagadish Shettar who has joined the Yeddyurappa camp, Mr Jarkiholi reminded Mr Shettar that it was Mr Yeddyurappa who had ensured his defeat to Sadananda Gowda in the contest for the CM’s post in August last year.
