Fazal case: School gets police notice
The Chikkajala traffic police, investigating the death of four-year-old Mohammed Fazal, have served notice to the Bright School in Thanisandra where he was studying. The notice has been served to ascertain if the school had adhered to the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court for school buses. It was found that the school had followed only eight guidelines and have violated in six others. The same has been reported to the court, said Chikkajala traffic police.
The school was shut on Saturday and the management has been summoned to appear before the investigating officer on Monday. The driver Bharath Singh’s license has been seized. “Immediately after the accident, we approached the school management and found that Singh was driving the van. Some of the school kids who were locked inside the van after the accident, have also confirmed Singh driving the van. We would not gain anything by arresting an innocent person”, police said, reacting to reports that the police have framed a wrong person.
“Media personnel were denied an opportunity to talk to the driver after he was arrested which has resulted in such speculations. Since the case is under investigation, the accused person cannot be videographed or express his views before the media. The arrest has been made only after a thorough investigation”, a police officer added. Fazal was killed after he was run over by his school van while revesring in Anjandari Layout in Thanisandra on Thursday evening.
