Iraqi hits speed-breaker, dies
A 19-year old Iraqi youth, who was riding without helmet to Nandi Hills along with his friends, met with a gory end when he lost control and hit his friend’s bike in the front on Monday morning. Mustafa Hashim was a first-year student at East Point College in Bidarahalli on Kithaganoor Road. He was part of a group of seven students, all from the same college, who were going on an early morning ride.
Mastafa was on his 250 CC Yamaha FZ (KA 05 K 375) and riding behind Amza Adan Hasan, 19, a resident of Kalyan Nagar. Amza too was on a bike with the registration number KA01 EC 5320. When the group reached the Fort Junction at Devanahalli around 4.30 am, Mustafa lost control. “At the Fort Junction, there is a speed-breaker. While others slowed down and moved on, Mustafa did not spot the road hump. Riding at over 80 kmph, he hit the road hump at the same speed, flew off his bike and hit Amja's bike from behind,” the police said.
Mustafa, riding without a helmet, fell head first and skidded on the road. A portion of his head was completely scraped. Hospital authorities said he died on the spot. His body has been kept at MS Ramaiah Hospital for the postmortem. A Chinese national and Mustafa’s girlfriend, Chic Chic, who was riding on the pillion has sustained serious injuries. Amja has suffered minor injuries. All others have remained unhurt.
