Mystery shrouds the visit of former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's close confidante, Shobha Karandlaje to Delhi on Sunday. A large section of party leaders assert that she was in the capital to strike a deal on behalf of her mentor. Others believe that she was on an unsuccessful mission to strike a deal with the Congress.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a source said Ms Karandlaje was never summoned by party central leaders. After she left for Delhi on Sunday evening, her camp managers launched a media campaign saying she had been summoned to Delhi by none other than party president Nitin Gadkari.

“This was an attempt to mislead the media. Though central leaders had frantically tried to establish contact with Yeddyurappa on Sunday, they later dropped the move on realizing that he was avoiding them and had praised Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi. There was no question of summoning Shobha in this situation," the source asserted. AICC general secretary, Oscar Fernandes who was not available for a meeting.

A restive Shobha finally fell back on her own party leaders and succeeded in meeting BJP Karnataka in-charge, Arun Jaitley in the Central Hall of Parliament. "He told her in clear terms that it was not good for Yeddyurappa to conduct himself in this manner and he should stop embarrassing the party from now on," the source said quoting Mr Jaitley. The source added that once Mr Jaitley's message was conveyed to him, Mr Yeddyurappa decided to put his resignation plan on hold.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
