Jarkiholi to CM: Do not give in, dissolve House
Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda has called a meeting of ministers loyal to him on Saturday to discuss the crisis following the resignation of eight ministers.
At present, nine ministers are openly supporting the Chief Minister in the leadership tussle. They have reportedly told him not to buckle under the pressure being exerted by ministers identified with the camp of former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
“We have decided to press for two demands: First, the Chief Minister should accept the resignation of all eight ministers and take a bold step of dissolving the Assembly. We have ten to thirteen ministers in the Cabinet and will press for dissolution”, municipal administation minister Balachandra Jarkiholi, who is backing the CM, told this newspaper.
He said if high command does not agree to dissolution, the CM has every right to expand his Cabinet. After accepting the resignation of eight ministers, the CM should go ahead with the expansion of his Cabinet and give an opportunity to young faces and loyal workers of the party.
He should not give in to the pressure tactics of BSY loyalists, Mr Jarkiholi said, adding, “We will give him all the support. Once he expand the Cabinet, he can prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly. We know what we should do to prove our majority”.
