Mahantesh’s case handed over to CCB
A fortnight after KAS officer and Deputy Director of Directorate of Cooperative Audit S.P. Mahantesh died after an attack, city Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji on Friday transferred the case to Central Crime Branch.
The city police, who were investigating the case till now, could not make much headway.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) B. Dayanand, who is heading the CCB, said, “We will have a discussion with those who were investigating the case so far. We are working on some vital clues.” The investigation team will be led by ASP (women and narcotics squad) S.Y. Guled.
Mr Mahanesh was attacked by a few unidentified assailants on May 18 near Hotel Atria on Palace Road. He died on May 20.
The city police had formed four special teams, but had carried out no arrests so far.
