Mahantesh’s murder: Another call girl in custody
The police teams investigating the death of KAS officer S.P. Mahantesh have taken two more people into custody, including a call girl from Chennai.
The police have found contact details of Mr Mahantesh and other officers in the call girl’s mobile phone. Mr Mahantesh, deputy director, Karnataka Co-operative Societies’ Audit Department, who was assaulted on May 15, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
Five days ago, the police arrested another call girl in connection with the case. Even that girl’s mobile phone had details of an assistant commissioner of police from the city who was involved in the investigation into Mr Mahantesh’s murder.
The officer has now been excluded from the probe team. The investigating teams are talking to the bureaucrats in the phone list, trying to establish their link with the woman and their possible connection with the murder.
Asked why the police teams are investigating the personal life of the slain officer seriously and his alleged relationship with call girls, a senior police officer said they were looking into all possible angles to trace the murderers.
Until the investigators feel that the angle of call girls has nothing to do with the murder, they will continue with it and at the same time covering other possible angles too.
The investigators have still not been able to establish the exact motive behind the murder or the accused involved in it. The case would take a few more days before coming to a logical conclusion, the officer said.
