Man dies as truck rams into bus
An 18-year-old youth died after the private bus he was travelling in involved in a serial accident on National Highway 4 at Goraguntepalya Circle on Tuesday morning. The private bus, coming from Mangalore to Bengaluru, was going at a high speed when a Tata Ace truck in front of it suddenly veered right at Goraguntepalya Circle. The bus driver applied brakes. A car that was just behind the bus braked too. But the tipper lorry behind the car, trying to avoid crashing into the car, hit the rear portion of the bus. Premaraj Pujari, a lift mechanic in Bengaluru, who was asleep in the last seat of the bus, was crushed by the impact and died on the spot with severe head injuries.
The impact had mangled the rear portion of the bus, and Premaraj’s body was extricated after cutting open the metal body of the bus.Mr Pujari was returning to Bengaluru after visiting his native in Bantwal. The body was kept at the M.S.Ramaiah Hospital. In another accident, an NAL woman employee was crushed to death in the HAL traffic police limits on Tuesday morning. Chandrakala (35), a resident of Sanjaynagar in Marathalli, was riding the pillion of her husband. Two people were also injured in the accident. The injured are Manjunath, 26, and Suresh, 28, residents of Laggere, who travelling were in the mini-truck. They were treated at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital.
