Man fudges wife’s marks cards to land plush IT job

A 33-year-old man who had failed in his diploma exams but still managed to cheat an IT giant to occupy the post of Deputy General Manager (DGM) by producing tampered marks cards, has been arrested by the Chandra Layout police.

The accused, R. Nandan, a resident of Papareddypalya in Nagarbhavi II Stage, was arrested on July 9 on the basis of a complaint filed by his wife Latha after she found that her marks cards were fudged. He was drawing Rs 24 lakh in annual salary and had even obtained a post-graduate degree in management using the fake marks cards.

Nandan had completed his high school at St Joseph’s Boys School. He later joined MEI Polytechnic College in Rajajinagar for a diploma course in Electronics and Communications. However, he failed to clear the exam. He took photocopies of the original marks card of his wife’s PUC and BCom courses and on them, replaced his wife’s name with his name and got it attested by a notory.

He had used these marks sheets to secure a job in HP in 2005 and served as manager till 2008. He then applied for a P-G degree in management in 2007 with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode, using the fake marks cards and completed it. He served as director (marketing) in Amicorp from 2008 to 2011 and joined IBM as deputy general manager in August 2011, police said.

The couple, who have a three-year-old daughter, had some differences. Latha, who was working with a multinational company, had decided to move out and stayed with her father. She took her mark sheets which were given to Nandan and found them fudged after which she filed a complaint with the police. Chandra Layout police arrested Nandan and seized the marks sheets. Further investigations are on.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
