Man rapes minor in bid to force marriage
A 28-year-old man raped a 16-year-old girl for refusing to marry him. The minor girl and her parents have now filed a complaint against the rapist, H. Rama, who had threatened to kill them. The young girl was allegedly kidnapped and repeatedly raped by him to get her to agree to the marriage. Rama told her father and brother that they had no option but to get her married to him since she has been raped and no one else would marry her. He threatened the family with dire consequences if they did not approve of the marriage.
The girl and her parents have approached the police with a complaint against Rama, his father and brother. The victim, a native of Karekallupalya village in Magadi Taluk of Ramnagar district, is pursuing her pre-university course in a government college and stays at a government-run women’s hostel in Yelechenahalli on the Kanakapura Main Road. A few days ago, Rama called her on her mobile phone and told her to meet him at City Market or else he would get her parents killed. He took her to Yediyur and then to his relative’s house in Bellagundha village and raped her.
