MLA’s bombshell: Seer offered Rs 1 cr to defect
BJP's Khanapur MLA, Pralhad Remani, claimed on Monday that he had been offered Rs 1 crore by the seer of a Khanapur mutt to switch loyalties to JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy in the run up to the next assembly elections. Speaking at a programme near Khanapur, Mr Remani claimed he had refused the offer as he was a loyal follower of B.S. Yeddyurappa. "I was also offered Rs 1 crore by the Reddy brothers during the previous poll in exchange for my support, but I don't believe in succumbing to such tactics. I will continue to support Yeddyurappa and never give in to pressure from other parties,” he said.
Mr Remani refuted claims that he was responsible for the raid conducted by the forest department on Handibadagnath Math, asserting that he had never worked against any religious centre. Meanwhile, Handibadagnath Mutt seer, Peersiddanath denied having offered the MLA money and demanded that he should specify when and where he was supposed to have offered it.
