My dreams were wrecked: BSY
Former chief minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, on Saturday vent his spleen against detractors within the ruling party, saying they wrecked his dreams of turning Karnataka into a model state.
Speaking at the inaugural of a slew of developmental works undertaken at a total cost of Rs 140 crore in his home constituency, Mr Yeddyurappa said at one point he had dreamt of turning Karnataka into a more progressive state than Gujarat. “When I was a member of town panchayat of Shikaripur, I dreamt of making the taluk as a model in the state. I made it when I became a MLA. In the same manner, I wanted to develop other taluks and districts but some people with vested interests, and those jealous of my achievements blocked my plans and pulled me down,” he fumed.
Interestingly, the event was held sans the district in-charge minister and Chief Minister D.V. Sadananada Gowda and state unit president K.S. Eshwarappa. The invitation merely carried the ‘best wishes’ of Mr Sadananda Gowda for the event. The former chief minister was also miffed that developmental schemes launched by him were being implemented at a snail’s pace.
