My own men plotted my ouster: BSY
Former chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday came down heavily on former Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde and the Opposition parties for ‘sending him to jail for no fault of his.’
Speaking to reporters after wishing Siddaganga Math seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji on his 105th birthday, Mr Yeddyurappa claimed that though he was not involved in any scam, he was forced to spend 21 days in jail.
The high court verdict giving him a clean chit in the illegal mining case had reinvigorated him, said the ex-CM while expressing confidence that he would come back as CM shortly. He also expressed his desire to help the poor and farmers in the state by presenting a Rs 1 lakh crore budget in future.
Taking a dig at the Opposition parties, Mr Yeddyurappa said they were afraid of him as they felt their chances of coming to power would be spoilt if he returned to the helm of affairs in the BJP. “The Opposition, instead of concentrating on development, is involved in making false allegations against me to wreck my political career. Several of our own legislators are supporting the Opposition to make sure I do not get the CM’s post. But, I know who to believe and who not to”.
The Lingayat strongman claimed that he had given good governance in his three years as CM and was hopeful that he would get a chance again to make Karnataka a model state.
Ministers Jagadish Shettar, V. Somanna, former ministers C. Chennigappa, Rani Satish, BJP leader Ramachandre Gowda, LS member G. S. Basavaraj, Rajya Sabha member A.R. Rehman, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar, MLA Shivanna and Tumkur Rural MLA Suresh Gowda visited Siddaganga Math and wished the seer on his birthday.
