Not Nirani, it’s BSY, Katta in dock now
The Lokayukta police have filed B-report in the case against industries minister Murugesh Nirani and others. The complaint was filed by Alam Pasha, a city based developer. However, the police have found that former Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa and former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu have also played a role in the two offences listed by the complainant.
The police have filed chargesheets against both Mr Yeddyurappa and Mr Naidu. The private complaint filed by Mr Alam Pasha stated that Mr Nirani had misused his position as industries minister and floated a number of unregistered companies for pecuniary gain and caused a huge loss to the state exchequer during the Global Investors Meet.
The Lokayukta police filed B report in this regard and submitted that no evidence was found in this regard. In respect to the second allegation of alleged illegal de-notification of four acres and six guntas of land in Dabaspet, the Lokayukta investigating team led by DySP Manjunath, found that Mr Katta Subramanya Naidu as the then industries minister passed an order de-notifying six acres and four guntas of notified land, violating all rules.
This apart, the police also found that the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) held that because of this de-notification, the state government lost Rs 75 lakh. The police investigation also proved this lapse and charged Mr Naidu with misuse of office. In the third offense — alleged de-notification of 20 acres of land in Hoovinayakanahalli — the Lokayukta police have chargesheeted former chief minister Mr Yeddyurappa for causing a loss of `8 crore to the state exchequer.
The report stated that though Mr Nirani was the industries minister during this de-notification, he clearly stated that the de-notification was not possible as final notification was issued pertaining to the lands. However, Mr Yeddyurappa, not heeding the noting put up by all the officials, passed de-notification orders in favour of the original owners of the land. The officials had clearly stated that to de-notify the land the original owner has to pay the developmental charge (`6 crore in this case) and service charge (`2 crore in this case).
