Not seeking transfer: Goel

BBMP commissioner Rajneesh Goel has denied that he sought a transfer from the palike.

“I am not a person who would seek a transfer. I have taken Solid Waste Management as a challenge and would live up to people’s expectations,” he told Deccan Chronicle.

He said the segregation of waste process, which was initiated by him, has achieved 35 per cent success.

“Some apartment dwellers and resident welfare associations are supporting the BBMP initiative. Wet waste is being sent to farmers for converting it into compost,” he added.

“Many things are half done. Things are going pretty much okay and there is no reason for me to seek a transfer,” he said.

Organic waste converters are being set up and strategies being worked out to solve the garbage crisis. The new tenders have helped the BBMP save money.

The new contractors are expected to segregate waste. With segregation in place the trash that reaches landfill will reduce to a great extent.

This will help reduce transport cost. Ward level segregation and processing will help solve the crisis, said Mr Goel.
