Pawan’s kin want another autopsy
Parents of techie Pawan Kumar, who committed suicide in the US, are thinking of sending the body for another postmortem once it arrives in the city. Pawan’s father Mr. Anjaiah told Deccan Chronicle: “We are planning to take the body either to Victoria Hospital or to Bowring Hospital after it arrives in the city. I am not convinced that my son died of drug overdose. Only after the doctors here give another opinion, will I take my son’s body to our native village and conduct the last rites. Otherwise, we will take legal action.”
Pawan’s parents on Saturday submitted the necessary documents along with the required ID proof to the company to get the body home. “The company told us that since pilots in the US are on some strike, the body cannot be flown back by Monday. If the strike continues, the officials have informed that they will arrange for the body to be flown in through Indian Airlines. The company has handed us one of Pawan’s bags which contained his clothes. I was also told that a box containing some of Pawan’s belongings is with the customs officials. But as it supposed to contain some important information, they will go through it thoroughly before handing it to us.” The family members wanted the death note left behind by Pawan, but it is said that since the techie was accused of murdering school teacher Danielle Mehlman, the US authorities would require it for their investigation.
