Police vs lawyers again: Woman cop victim

The cop-advocate conflict is all set to aggravate following the alleged attack on a policeman and a woman constable by a group of advocates and the subsequent arrest of one of the accused by the city police Tuesday evening, Manjunath alias Kencha also accused in the March 2 violence. The incident happened at the magistrate court complex on Nrupathunga Road.

Relations between lawyers and the police have become strained after the March 2 incident when cops, advocates and journalists were involved in a fracas at the city civil court premises. Police sources said head constable Basavaraj (53), attached to Halasuru Gate police station and Roopa (25) (left) who is with the women’s police station were kicked, punched and pushed to the ground without any provocation by the advocates.
