The District Congress Committee has filed a complaint with the Lokayukta seeking investigation into the alleged ‘informal’ statement of Bellary MLA B. Sreeramulu with regard to funding the BJP in the 2008 elections.
The MLA had claimed that he and former minister G. Janardhana Redy had funded the BJP to the tune of Rs200 crore during the assembly elections and paid Rs10 crore per month to former CM B.S.
Yeddyurappa for about six months. Bangalore City District Congress Committee president T.R. Srinivas has lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta seeking suo motu investigation into Mr Sreeramulu’s informal discussion with the Thontadarya seer at Gadag which was aired by several news channels.
The Congress also filed a complaint before the Election Commission seeking de-recognition of BJP and disqualification of all its MLAs. The complaint alleged that BJP won the 2008 assembly election by corrupt means which was brought to light only on March 3 by Mr Sreeramulu.
