Rains lash city, leave roads flooded
After weeks of wait, Bengaluru finally soaked in the monsoon shower on Friday evening with many parts of city receiving rain for over two hours.
The weekend crowd, however, had to contend with traffic jams and water-logged roads.
Meteorologists expressed hope of increased rainfall over south-interior parts of Karnataka. The eastern parts of city received good rainfall. HAL airport recorded 28.9 mm rainfall.
The showers started around 5 pm and covered central parts of the city before heavy rain occurred over the northern and southern parts.
The Indian Meteorological Department recorded 3.2 mm rainfall in city and 0.4 mm rainfall at Yelahanka Air Force Station observatories.
“There is increased activity over Bay of Bengal, hence the city and surrounding areas are receiving good rain,” IMD said.
