Sacked worker harasses Wipro employee

An unidentified man, claiming to be an ex-Wipro employee, has been harassing a woman staffer with the company by calling her at odd hours and sending her lewd messages. The woman, who was harassed since last month-end, approached the police when he threatened to get her husband killed.

The victim, whose name has been withheld, has filed the complaint with the cyber crime police, who have tracked the perpetrator’s mobile number to Hyderabad. A team from the city police is on the lookout for him. The victim, who stays in an apartment at Ashwathnagar near Hebbal, works as a manager with Wipro Technologies in the city.

When the suspect told the victim that he too worked with Wipro, she reported the incident to the Wipro Security Head and also to the human resources department, who found that the perpetrator is Arun Raja, who was with Wipro in Chennai. The company terminated his services after he similarly harassed women employees in the company, an investigating officer said. The victim, with the help of cyber crime police, has traced the suspect’s location to ECIL X Road, Kapra Municipality, Hyderabad. She has found that his home address given to Wipro is Korlagunta in Chittoor and Yadava Street in Tirupathi. She has been getting calls from two mobile numbers.

The victim said the perpetrator kept calling her and sending her obscene messages for three consecutive days, though she had neither met him nor seen him. She has been in a state of shock, the officer said. “The case has been transferred to the city police as the whereabouts of the suspect is known through the mobile phone numbers. The city police are on the lookout for the suspect,” officials at the cyber cell said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
