Scores throng Mantralayam
The seven-day-long 341th ‘Aradhana mahotsav’ of Sri Raghavendra Swamy is being celebrated with fervour at Mantralayam with scores of devotees from across the country visiting Mantralayam to witness the event and have ‘dharshan’ of Raghavendra Swamy.
Mantralayam, which was submerged in floods in 2009, now wears a new look and has been developed with financial assistance from devotees as well as the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. New houses have been constructed for the affected people in the villages around Mantralayam.
The ‘Poorvaaradhane’ was held on Friday. Retired Chief Justice of India M.N. Venkatachalaiah was among the recipients of the Raghavendra Anugraha award given away by the math during the annual ‘Aradhana mahotsav’. The award was also bestowed on late Raja S. Gururajacharya posthumously. Justice Venkatachalaiah and the family of Gururajacharya returned the Rs 1 lakh cash component of the award towards development of the math.
On Saturday, the ‘Madhyaradhane’ of Gurusarvabhouma was held with the golden chariot being taken out in procession. The special ‘Panchamrutha abhishekha’ was performed at the Brindavan in the morning. The ‘Maharathotsav’ will be held on Sunday.
