Shettar runs a coalition govt: BSY
Is Jagadish Shettar heading a coalition government and not a BJP government anymore?
Former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa feels so and sent out a veiled attack to the BJP and Mr Shettar—whom he installed as CM barely five months ago— that any move against his loyalists would prove disastrous.
Speaking to reporters before addressing a SC/ ST leaders’ meeting at his Malleshwaram office, Mr. Yeddyurappa said: “Now, there is no full-fledged BJP government in the state. The one headed by Mr Shettar is a coalition government supported by me and my supporters”.
“Since Mr Shettar is heading a coalition, he should be more cautious while taking any decision at the government level”, the former CM warned. He was apparently hinting at the government’s move to prevent his supporting MLAs and ministers from participating in the launch of his new party at Haveri on December 10, which had forced him to advance the event to December 9.
“The chief minister has convened the session at Belgaum from December 5 but that will not stop my rally at Haveri, which is why I have fixed the launch for December 9”, Mr Yeddyurappa said. “My resigning from the primary membership of BJP and my MLA seat is now a mere formality. I will resign before launching Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) at Haveri. However, I will not invite any leader to join my party, I know how to build my party without leaders whom I can groom on my own”, he said while replying to a question.
“Even after I lost the CM post in July, 2011, more than 70 MLAs continued to support me. I hope all my loyalist MLAs, MPs and MLCs will support me in the coming days”, he added.
