Shimoga backs ‘stormy petrel’
The resignation of former Chief Minister B.S.YeddyÂurappa from the BJP and the state assembly on Friday, prompted a flood of resignations from BJP office-bearers and elected representatives of the zilla panchayats, taluk panchayats and town panchayats and even booth level workers in the district.
In Shikaripur taluk, taluk BJP president, Rudrappaiah and general secretary, Gurumurthy resigned along with 12 taluk panchayat and 17 town panchayat members, 196 booth level workers and 72 workers of seven Shakti Kendras, besides members of the APMC. All 13 taluk panchayat members of Shiralkoppa too submitted their resignations to district BJP president R.K. Siddaramanna. In Sagar district BJP secretary, T.D.Megharaj and state planning commission member and taluk BJP president, B.R.Jayanth quit the party. Worrying for the BJP, it lost many old workers.
In Sorab taluk, six taluk panchayat , four zilla panchayat and two town panchayat members resigned. BJP office-bearers of Bhadravati taluk are expected to join KJP in December .
