Siddu backs down on trust vote
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah on Friday backtracked on his statement that the Congress would move a no-confidence motion against the BJP government in the state on December 5.
At a press conference here, he said no decision had been taken yet on moving the no-confidence motion."I only said the party was consideri ng moving a no-confidence motion. A decision will be taken on this after a discussion in the Congress Legislative Party (CLP). I cannot take such a decision on my own,” he maintained, however, adding that if the president of the proposed Karnataka Janata Party (KJP), Dhananjay Kumar dared to support the Congress, he would speak more about moving a no-confidence motion against the state government.
It is believed that Mr Siddaramaiah may have had second thoughts about moving the no-confidence motion as it could reflect badly on the Congress if it tried to bring down the government with assembly polls round the corner.
Asked whether he planned to join hands with the JD(S), KJP or the BJP Siddaramaiah said he would not compromise with his principles and join a communal party like the BJP or any other party.
