Siddu takes war to Rahul’s door
Miffed at the manner in which the candidates he picked for the forthcoming Legislative Council polls were rejected without a discussion, and how neither of his die-hard supporters —former Union minister C.M. Ibrahim or former leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council V.S. Ugrappa — were among the four chosen to contest the June 11 polls, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah, sent his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, on Friday.
“I feel that the party high command has no confidence in me. So, it is inappropriate for me to continue as leader of the Congress Legislature Party,” he said.
The Kuruba strongman, who has been at loggerheads with KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar in recent months, will demonstrate his anger by skipping the party convention scheduled to be addressed by general secretary Rahul Gandhi at Davangere on Sunday.
Requests by senior Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes and Mr Madhusudhan Mistry to reconsider his decision were rebuffed.
