Speeding car crashes on NICE Road, 3 die
Three friends were killed, while two others sustained grievous injuries after their car, which was being driven at high speeds, crashed into the median under the NICE road flyover on Mysore Road, just after midnight on Friday.
The driver of the Honda City car lost control and crashed into the median at 12.05 am on Friday. The car flew around 15 feet into the air, broke into three pieces and came to a halt after hitting an oncoming van. The three died on the spot, while two others sustained serious head and internal injuries. They have been shifted to a private hospital nearby.
The car had turned into a mangled piece of metal and all the five were stuck inside. Passersby and doctors extricated them and rushed them to the hospital. The police had to use a crane to shift the car to the police station from the place of accident.
The deceased have been identified as Sachin Shetty (27) from Mangalore, Amaan (21) from Kengeri Satellite Town and Devaraj (27) from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu. The injured are Syed Saleel (18) and Syed Abib (21). All the five were staying in Gandhinagar in Kengeri Satellite Town.
Ironically, they had gone to see Shetty’s brother at a hospital in Kengeri, where he has been admitted after a road accident.After seeing his brother, Shetty and his friends were heading for a dhaba near the Kengeri checkpost when the accident occurred.
Devaraj, who was married with two children, was working as an attendant at the juice centre. Amaan was working as an electrical fitter at fabrication engineering workshop near his house. The two injured are welders, the police said.
The Kengeri traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.
