Sree escapes ACB dragnet for now
Unlike his fellow Bellary MLAs Gali Somashekhar Reddy and T.H. Suresh Babu, BSR Congress party founder B. Sreeramulu has not been named as a conspirator among the eight people who allegedly entered into a plot to secure bail for former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in the court of special CBI judge T. Pattabhi Rama Rao in Hyderabad. The Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) which is investigating the ‘Cash for bail’ scam, has in the 17-page chargesheet filed on August 13 by T. Raghupathy Goud, deputy superintendent of police, ACB, not named Gali Janardhan Reddy either in the chargesheet.
Those chargesheeted are suspended CBI special court judge Pattabhi Rama Rao, his son Ravichandra, his friend and retired judge T.V. Chalapathi Rao, Janardhan Reddy’s relative Dasrath Ram Reddy, advocate Aditya, rowdy-sheeter Yadagiri Rao and two Karnataka MLAs from Bellary, Somashekhar Reddy and Suresh Babu who have all been arrested and lodged in Cherlapally jail in Hyderabad.
They have been charged with entering into a conspiracy to allegedly secure bail for Janardhan Reddy. Sources claimed that Sreeramulu’s name may figure in the chargesheet to be filed in the second case registered in the scam in which two suspended judges, Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, D. Prabhakar Rao and realtor R. Surya Prakash have been named. The ACB is yet to file the chargesheet in this case. Sreeramulu came under a cloud after Suresh Babu and realtor Surya Prakash referred to his role in their confessions.
