Sree faces ACB heat for 7 hours
President of BSR Congress and a trusted lieutenant of the Reddy brothers, B Sreeramulu, was questioned for about seven hours by officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Andhra Pradesh, for his role in the “cash-for-bail” scam in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Accompanied by his sister and MP J. Shanta and uncle and Raichur MP Sanna Fakirappa, the Valmiki strongman walked into the ACB head office in Moazzam Jahi Market area in Hyderabad around 10:20 am and left around 5:20 pm. “I respect the law of the land. Therefore, I came here in response to the notice served by ACB. I co-operated with the investigating officers and answered all questions. Tomorrow, I will continue my “Swabhimani Sankalpa Yatre” in Karnataka”, the former minister told media persons outside the head office of ACB.
Mr Sreeramulu said unlike Bellary legislator Gali Somashekhar Reddy, he was not asked to appear for interrogation on the second day. Meanwhile, official sources said sleuths at ACB would take a decision on either to arrest him or consider him as a witness depending upon further investigation. In case they decide to consider him as a witness, it would spell serious trouble for those already in custody, including his nephew and legislator T H Suresh Babu, Mr Somashekhar Reddy, three judges and others.
The sources said though Suresh Babu and Hyderabad-based realtor Surya Prakash named Sreeramulu as conspirator, the ACB served a notice on him after gathering evidence from bank accounts of the Reddys and statements of others in custody in Hyderabad.
