Sree refuses to comment on Cash for bail
BSR Congress founder B. Sreeramulu has declined to comment on reports that Kampli MLA T.H. Suresh Babu has dragged him into the Cash for bail scam, saying this was something the court would have to decide on. Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on Thursday during his “Swabhimani Sankalpa Yatra,” the former health minister said: “As the issue is subjudice, I will not speak on the topic. The law will take its own course”. Mr Suresh Babu, in his confession to the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), has claimed that Sreeramulu had called him and told about judges in Hyderabad who were ready to help out in securing bail for jailed mine baron Gali Janardhan Reddy. If Sreeramulu is also named in the FIR, it could well spell curtains for the Valmiki community strongman who is planning a big splash in state politics.
Undeterred by the legal tangle he could land in soon, the Valmiki community strongman said his yatra, which began from Karwar on July 29, will conclude at Ramanagara on August 5. With an eye on his poll prospects in the coastal belt in the forthcoming assembly elections, the Bellary Rural MLA touched on some issues including jobs for the unemployed.
“We have come to know that youth from farmer families, who lost their land for the Special Economic Zone(SEZ), have not received jobs. If we come to power, we will ensure that all these youth get employment. Beedi workers will be provided financial help and the problems of the fishermen will be solved,” he declared. The other promises he doled out include laptops for PU students, Rs 2,000 per month as unemployment allowance for youth, fixation of the price of a crop at the time of sowing, free mass marriages and rice at Rs 2 per kg.
