From today, govt will serve you on time
Citizens can rest assured that some of the government services will be delivered on time with the launch of Sakala today.
Sakala will be implemented across the state from Saturday which will ensure delivery of 151 services in various departments on time, said Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner M.K. Aiyappa.
He said an official who fails to deliver the service within a stipulated time has to pay the applicant a compensation of Rs 20 per day up with a maximum of Rs 500.
Services from departments like revenue, finance, food and civil supplies, women and child welfare, education, health and family welfare, transport, births and deaths registration and other departments are included in the scheme, he said.
Government officials have been trained to provide the services on time and necessary arrangements, like UPS, computers, printers and other accessories, have been put in place to help the employees deliver the services, he said.
The applicant will be given a 14-digit acknowledgement number and the application status will be intimated through SMSs.
The pilot was launched in Chitradurga, Dharwad, Aurad and Puttur from March 1. About one lakh applications were received and about 87,000 were cleared on time, he added.
Based on the feedback from the employees, the number of days required to deliver any service will be increased or decreased, he said.
