VTU V-C asks governor to intervene
As far as fights in universities go, there is not much difference between outgoing Bangalore University (BU) vice-chancellor Dr. N. Prabhudev and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) V-C Dr. H. Maheshappa. After failing to retain his nominee for the post of registrar (evaluation), Dr Maheshappa has lodged a complaint with the governor, who is chancellor of universities, alleging that he was forced to appoint a new registrar by the executive council (EC) members. He has asked Mr H.R. Bhardwaj to rescind the EC decision.
VTU sources said the executive council, at its meeting on September 21, rejected Dr Maheshappa’s proposal to continue with Dr. Krishnamurthy G.N. as registrar (evaluation). Instead it unanimously selected Prof. K R Suresh. But even 10 days after the EC decision, the appointment order has not been issued to Prof. Suresh. A senior official in VTU said that there is no information on the appointment of the new registrar.
