Wait over, Pawan’s body arrives in city today

The long wait for Pawan Kumar’s family members has finally come to an end as Pawan’s body is expected to reach the city on Wednesday. According to sources in the MEA, “Pawan’s body has left New York and was flown to Delhi on Wednesday evening by an Air India flight. The body will be flown from Delhi by flight AI 506 and is expected to reach Bengaluru International Airport on Wednesday. Cognizant Technologies had paid for the transport of the body.” Pawan’s uncle Mr Gopalakrishna, speaking to Deccan Chronicle, said, “Cognizant Technologies had informed us that the body had reached New Delhi by Tuesday evening. They told us that certain formalities were being followed at the airport there and immediately after that they would send the body by an Air India flight. We have been told that the body will reach BIA around 12 midnight, but the time is not confirmed. The company said they will keep us updated. Cognizant also told us they will arrange for an ambulance from the airport to bring the body to our house in R.T. Nagar.

“Initially, we planned to conduct the final rites at our native village in Pavagada of Tumkur district. However, now we decided to perform the last rites at Hebbal crematorium on Wednesday. Amidst our sorrow and grief, we are relieved that Pawan’s body is finally arriving”, he said. A spokesperson for Cognizant said, “We have made all the necessary arrangements so that the body reaches the family and they can go ahead with the final rites. We are in constant touch with the family and keeping them updated.”
